Open VERTEX 1.0
Open VERTEX 1.0 is the first VERTEX based product from HPC Links. Open VERTEX 1.0
makes available many of the VERTEX architectural features to open source HPC customers:
- Open VERTEX 1.0 is a hybrid HPC software platform which helps in scaling parallel
applications using lightweight compute nodes based on NVIDIA GPU, Sony's Cell
based PS3, and VERTEX control nodes based on Intel or AMD x86 processors.
- Open VERTEX 1.0 is the first free, open source release compiled and tested on CentOS
5.6 Linux distribution.
- Open VERTEX 1.0 uses the VERTEX nodes to run application binaries, such as CUDA
code or Cell binaries, transparently on compute nodes.
- Open VERTEX 1.0 implements control and IO communication between the VERTEX node
and compute nodes using the 9P protocol over TCP/IP running on Ethernet or Infiniband.
- Open VERTEX 1.0 provides basic tools to load and schedule binaries to run on compute
nodes and monitor them from the VERTEX node.
- Open VERTEX 1.0 comes with tools and processes to configure and install the required
software and documentation for setting up the VERTEX and Compute nodes environments.
Open VERTEX 1.0 is tested and certified for:
- CUDA 4.0+, OpenMPI, IntelMPI and OpenMP based applications
- User management systems of Unix users and NIS+
- Parallel I/O with Lustre
- VERTEX node management using XCAT cluster management system
