Ashwini Kumar Nanda, Ph.D.
The Founder and CEO of HPC Links. For over 25 years, Ashwini has been involved in research and development of high performance computer systems and applications in both India and the US. As the head of TATA CRL, India, he recently led the development of the Eka system, awarded as Asia's fastest supercomputer in 2007, and India's fastest till date. Prior to that, at IBM TJ Watson Research Center, NY, he conceptualized and led the development of Cell processor based system and software technologies for a new line of server product offerings from IBM, and the world's first Petaflop machine, Roadrunner, at Los Alamos National Labs. He also established the shared memory systems group at IBM Research, NY, worked on the Amazon superscalar processor architecture at Texas Instrument, Dallas, and developed parallel computers for India's missile defense systems at Wipro, Bangalore. Dr Nanda was co-General Chair of the International Symposium on High Performance Computer Architecture (HPCA-7), served on the Editorial Board of IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, edited special issues of the IEEE Computer magazine and IBM Journal of R&D. Lakshman Rao Malla, Vice President of Engineering and Operations
For over twenty five years, Lakshman has been involved in software product development and consulting services business in India, US and UK. Prior to joining HPC Links, he served in senior management roles leading large software R&D teams at the Engineering Labs of Hewlett Packard Corp. He was responsible for research and development of HP's Operations Agent product, an industry leading solution in the IT Infrastructure & Systems management space. Prior to joining HP, he was one of founding members and senior executives in incubating two successful software start ups (namely ITTI and Baysoft) in India. He also served in various technical, account and project management roles at Wipro, Bangalore, in its early years. Lakshman's passion is to use technology, engineer solutions, and work closely with customers to solve challenging business problems.
Abhijit Biswas, Vice President and Head of Financial Technologies
Abhijit is a first generation entrepreneur and quantitative finance professional with over fifteen years of experience in risk management and investment management product development. He has been a founding Director and the Head of Product Development at Risk Infotech Solutions, RISPL, started in 2000. As a Quant professional, Abhijit has created numerous breakthroughs in Risk Modelling Technology in India. He has co-developed India’s first and principal Multi-Factor Risk Model for the Equity market. The risk management software products of RISPL were used by major global and Indian financial institutions like HSBC AMC, SBI AMC, amongst others. His second venture, Indian Institute of Quantitative Finance, incorporated in 2009, is a pioneer in the field of quantitative finance education in India. IIQF has been imparting education and training to major financial institutions and individuals in India in the field of quantitative finance and risk management, including global and Indian majors like JP Morgan, Bank of New York Mellon, Societe Generale, Citi, ING, NSE, LIC, and others. At HPC Links, Abhijit leads the development of Quantitative Finance solutions and services using High Performance Parallel Computing technologies. As an industry member of the Board of Studies, he has designed the masters degree in quantitative finance and diploma in financial risk management at Mumbai University.
